This morning in my Bible Reading time the great deceiver was whispering in my ear – “this is all old stuff, you have read it a hundred times, go do something else.” I listened for a few minutes and did move on to something else. Some days it doesn’t take much to get me off track. The good news is that I did not stay away for long. It was not long before I came back to “The Book” and began again. Currently as I follow my read through the Bible in a year plan, I am reading in Matthew’s Gospel currently.
Matthew 21:1-3 (NIV)
1 As they approached Jerusalem and came to Bethphage on the Mount of Olives, Jesus sent two disciples, 2 saying to them, “Go to the village ahead of you, and at once you will find a donkey tied there, with her colt by her. Untie them and bring them to me. 3 If anyone says anything to you, tell him that the Lord needs them, and he will send them right away.”
The last 7 words just echoed around in my head “…and he will send them right away.” Really, You just walk into town and grab a donkey, that is not yours and say”The Lord needs this.” How would that work today. What about the stuff in my life? Am I ready to turn over anything and everything that I have because the Lord needs it? I feel like the Lord really needs to work on my grip of things.
PRAYER: Lord, thank you for the many blessings you have given me in this life, and all the stuff you allow me to use for my daily living. Help me to see the needs that you present to me and give me a willing spirit to offer them to your service without question. May my grip of stuff be made lose and my grip to you be made firm.
