Where does Love come from? The short answer is God.  Parents can tell you about the first time they held their newborn and looked into their face – boom – it was Love at first sight. The simple truth is that God’s Love for us goes even deeper than Love at first sight.  For God is was Love at first thought! Before the world was created God was thinking about us before he knit us together in our mother’s womb he was thinking about us. Before sin had entered the world, God was thinking about us.

But more than just thinking about us – he was Loving us.  He was planning a rescue mission for our very lives before a single day was lived. The Love that we share this Christmas was born in the heart of God before we ever had a heartbeat. That’s why Paul marvels and prays that we would know this amazing Love of God.

14  For this reason I bow my knees before the Father, 15  from whom every family in heaven and on earth is named, 16  that according to the riches of his glory he may grant you to be strengthened with power through his Spirit in your inner being, 17  so that Christ may dwell in your hearts through faith—that you, being rooted and grounded in love, 18  may have strength to comprehend with all the saints what is the breadth and length and height and depth, 19  and to know the love of Christ that surpasses knowledge, that you may be filled with all the fullness of God. Ephesians 3:14-19

Only when we begin to understand the depth and fullness of God’s love for us, and we truly have Christ-like love for others, for all others! May we know and show the Love of Christ this Christmas to everyone we meet!

WHAT does Love mean to you?
